In the Beginning
In 1989, Lisa Levison founded Innovative Design Ideas, a retailer of office furniture. Talking to clients in the field, Lisa quickly learned that there was a large deficit in the way existing furniture was serviced. IDI began refocusing as a service provider for all office furniture needs: installation, reconfiguration, design, warehousing, and inventory management.
Cleaning, Restoring, and Rehabilitating
Contacted by an office owner in distress over the accidental deployment of a fire suppression sprinkler system on a large amount of brand new systems furniture, IDI quickly realized that there was currently no one offering services geared to cleaning, restoring or rehabilitating dirty or damaged product, as most furniture companies are more invested in replacing the old with costly new furniture at the expense of the end-user and the insurers. IDI considered it to be wasteful and environmentally unethical to discard furniture that could be brought back to new with the right processes.
The Drive To Learn More
The staff of IDI immersed themselves in the study of cleaning and restoration processes that would be instrumental in such remediation efforts. The scope soon expanded to include all office environment issues, from indoor air quality to moisture and mold remediation to disaster recovery. The drive to find, learn and develop the best practices possible in these areas combined with her broad range of experience for many years in this new and exciting field has earned Lisa Levison the title of Master Inspector.
Specialty Cleaning
It was a natural evolution to extend this base of knowledge into many other areas of high end specialty cleaning such as crime scene cleanup, mold remediation, furniture, art and rug restoration, and disaster recovery. IDI’s division, Decontamination and Restoration Service, DRS, is a natural extension of the wealth of knowledge and experience IDI has accumulated through their years of service.
